The Saturday Night Carnival

SATURDAY 9TH MAY 2026
No Show Tonight

Sorry folks, no show this evening. I've got one of the flu-ey ailments that're going around here at the moment. You'll hear from me next week :)

SATURDAY 2ND MAY 2026
Episode 24: "ACTIVISM CATCH-UP"

Social issues to address! Iliadic fragments! This weeks show saw a lot of punk, and a lot talk about the horros the world face today. But that's not to say that the music wasn't well worth it, and there's plenty to contribute to!

Event to check out: Gig for Gaza Fundraiser: - Friday 15th May 2026, 8:30pm @ U-Bar. $10 koha entry to benefit UNWRA in support of refugees outside of Gaza

Reading: Homer Iliad 16.635-867. trans. S. Lombardo. 1997. Iliad: Homer. Indianapolis: Hackett Publishing Company Ltd.

There is however, no show next week. I'm double booked, and promised a friend to be at their show in the Dunedin Fringe. But don't fear! You can always catch up on recordings, attend a gig (see the gig guide), or go to one of the many Dunedin Fringe shows. You can also check out other R1 shows :D

Episode 14: "god the weather's awful!"

Through driving rain and howling winds, I came to bring you the fickle flames of music this evening. Of course I was late and forgot the reading and bungled some technicals. Aren't I your favourite little cringefail radio host, or am I just a little hypothermic? Who knows? probably you... either way, a fine selection I presented despite the bitter weather.

No Guest or Reading this week, though the tales of Beowulf's mighty deeds await...

Big ups for the first episode of 2026!! Welcoming listeners new and old, vinyl hit the decks for the first time in our show's history! The solution to our classics woes stands in the tales from those the Romans deemed barbarians.
