Radio One 91FM

On today's programme, local artist Madison Kelly comes through to discuss their latest exhibit toko by and by at the Blue Oyster art space on Dowling St.

Toko by and by was conceived when Kelly was out in the Otago Harbour as the Blue Oyster Casselberg Trust Reisdent for 2022. While out in Whaka Oho Rahi, Kelly deepened their relationship with the harbour, and consequently she translated the tidal cycle into the work toko toko toko, whilst a collage of field drawings compose the rest of toko by and by.

Kelly goes into how they draw from both Western and Māori methodologies and philosophies in doing field work, how toko by and by has strengthened their connection to Te Ao Māori, and much more!
